Keynote
Title: AI Algorithms: Implementations, Applications and Implications
Abstract
In this talk I’ll examine algorithmic developments currently driving Artificial Intelligence (AI) research as well as software and hardware innovations linked to deploying real world applications. I will present some of our latest work ranging from understanding video, multimedia and natural language to robotics and autonomous vehicles. This will be placed in the context of an examination of the broader trends in AI, including projections for the future and a discussion of the challenges when implementing these algorithms. I’ll also discuss the roles and requirements of data in different parts of AI technology development and deployment as well as computation precision and energy considerations. I’ll examine some implications on the world of chip and systems design, embedded computing in terms of supporting computations performed ‘at the edge of the cloud’ – and what the definition of that means in different contexts.
